Power of Fiber
Fiber is the part of plants that our bodies can not digest. It is found in fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds, and legumes. It helps our digestive tract stay in prime working condition. There are two types of fiber, soluble and insoluble.
Soluble fiber is found in fruit, vegetables, seeds, brown rice, oats, legumes and pectin. The soluble fiber helps lower cholesterol levels and protect against heart disease. Insoluble fibers are found in whole grains, seeds, fruit and are the fibers which prevent constipation.
Most foods contain these types of fiber. You can also buy fiber supplements. Foods that are high in fiber are naturally low in fat and cholesterol. Eating foods high in fiber makes you feel full sooner and stays in your stomach longer. Its stays in your stomach longer and slows down your digestive system. Fiber help move fat through your digestive system faster so that less of it is absorbed. Remember to add fiber to your eating habits.
