Polyunsaturated fats: These two types of fats are known as omega-3’s and omega-6’s.
Omega-3
Omega-3’s fats are found in fish. Diets high in omega-3’s has shown to help protect the heart from cardiovascular disease. Research has been shown that the omega-3’s helps control your weight. One study, subject who took in 6 grams a day of fish oil supplements burned more fat during the course of day than those who went without.
Omega-3 alters the body’s metabolism and spurs it to burn fat more efficiently. Omega-3’s can be consumed through fish oil supplements or through real fish. Consuming real fish is a great source of lean, muscle-building protein. Flax seed also contain omega-3. It can help fight fats and reduce cholesterol.
Seafood with the highest omega-3 content is shad, sardines, mackerel, sablefish, salmon, tuna, oysters, trout, shark, swordfish and tuna.
Omega-6
Omega-6 fatty acids also help lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol. These fats are found in vegetable oils, meat, eggs and diary products.
Monounsaturated fats: These are fats that are found in nuts, olives, peanuts, avocados and olive and canola oils.
Monounsaturated fats are like omega-3, which help to reduce cholesterol levels and protect against heart disease. It also helps reduce fats. Monounsaturated fat has been shown to help you to eat less.
