Polyunsaturated fats:  These two types of fats are known as omega-3’s and omega-6’s.

Omega-3

Omega-3’s fats are found in fish.  Diets high in omega-3’s has shown to help protect the heart from cardiovascular disease. Research has been shown that the omega-3’s helps control your weight.   One study, subject who took in 6 grams a day of fish oil supplements burned more fat during the course of day than those who went without.

Omega-3 alters the body’s metabolism and spurs it to burn fat more efficiently.  Omega-3’s can be consumed through fish oil supplements or through real fish.  Consuming real fish is a great source of lean, muscle-building protein. Flax seed also contain omega-3.  It can help fight fats and reduce cholesterol.

Seafood with the highest omega-3 content is shad, sardines, mackerel, sablefish, salmon, tuna, oysters, trout, shark, swordfish and tuna.

Omega-6

Omega-6 fatty acids also help lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol.  These fats are found in vegetable oils, meat, eggs and diary products.

Monounsaturated fats:  These are fats that are found in nuts, olives, peanuts, avocados and olive and canola oils.

Monounsaturated fats are like omega-3, which help to reduce cholesterol levels and protect against heart disease.  It also helps reduce fats.  Monounsaturated fat has been shown to help you to eat less.
